The Virginia Beach Field House is Virginia’s premier indoor sports facility. With over 175,000 square feet, we offer leagues, camps, clinics, and tournaments for youth and adults in soccer, flag football, volleyball, basketball, arena (indoor) baseball and softball, field hockey, lacrosse, dodge ball, sand volleyball, sand flag football, sand soccer and other social sports. We also host birthday and team parties, corporate events, and other organized activities. The Virginia Beach Field House has 6 turf fields, 8 regulation volleyball courts, 4 basketball courts, 8 sand volleyball courts, 2 sand fields, multiple party rooms, an arcade, and an indoor Fun Zone. Guests are encouraged to visit our fully stocked food court and lounge. In addition, we proudly carry several beers on tap and by the bottle for those patrons over 21 years of age who enjoy adult beverages. We have full locker rooms with day lockers and showers. The Virginia Beach Field House is currently accepting applications for Sports Director. The Sports Director is responsible for league management including but not limited to scheduling, team formation, marketing and promotion of leagues and seasons as well as assisting in sponsored events.

• Drive all things sports at VBFH (youth and adult)
• Oversee all league operations
• Develop and execute budgets
• Create and adjust league, tournament, and event schedules
• Secure referees, trainers and other personnel for all events and programs
• Secure and prepare fields and courts necessary for programs and events
• Advises management and owner of optimum dates for events, taking into consideration experience of previous seasons
• Ensures that fields and playing surfaces are suitable for use by guests, notifying personnel to take appropriate action when needed
• Communicate with Finance Manager for payments and schedules
• Lead by example and enforce rules accordingly
• Oversee staff during leagues and events
• Provide quality guest service to guests
• Maintain, repair, upgrade, and order equipment when necessary
• Knowledgeable in facility operations and ability to perform facility operations efficiently
• Recognize the target market and develop strategies to expand market share
• Correspond with prospective groups
• Ability to understand, learn, and utilize various league and company software
• Understand and carryout league policies and procedures
• Conduct market research to develop leagues that are attractive to community
• Ability to open/close facility
• Knowledge of proper money handling procedures
• Knowledge in multiple sports/interests for future expansions and developments of leagues
• Ability to think quickly rationally in times of emergency to prevent further problems
• Manage multiple tasks at once as well as meet deadlines
• Inventory supplies and keep accurate records
• Communicate with affiliated guests by phone, e-mail and/or in person
• Work weekends, holidays, and nights when necessary
• Ability to be firm in league and company policies and procedures
• Record all incidents encountered
• Daily rounds during league play as MOD to ensure a safe facility
• Ensure all required paperwork is current
• Gather customer data and make appropriate adjustments
• Complete special projects and daily assignments as directed by General Manager & Ownership

Education and/or Experience : Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills : To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
